CHELSEA

I embarked on this 3-bedroom apartment for a bachelor in a new luxury high rise while it was still under construction. The apartments high ceilings, informal layout, and generous light from the open terraces made this a dream site. Our challenge however, was to create a more intimate and cozy feeling.

We focused on creating mood changes through the wall finishes. employing texture, lacquer, and richly burnished plaster walls. Metamorphic colors change according to the time of day. The lighter rooms and hallways lead into a darker sanctuary, with deep warm slate in the master bedroom and lacquered teal blue in the study.  It’s the play of darkness to light that makes this apartment interesting.

The approach to the furnishings is consistent with the architecture; simple and elegant. Well chosen design classics, iconic pieces and midcentury accents created a masculine cozy home that is timeless and classic.

REVIEW "Jovine design worked with me to decorate my West Chelsea apartment. Not only is Andrea Jovine a pleasure to work with, but her process was a very inclusive one. While some designers have a 'look', Andrea listened to what I was trying to achieve and involved me integrally in every aspect of my apartment design.

Andrea is supported by a team of professionals who help manage the logistics of the project including timing, delivery, invoicing so that no detail is forgotten and all items are checked as they arrive to ensure that they are delivered in pristine condition. In addition to her internal support team, Andrea's subs such as those used for painting, faux finishes, window treatments and custom furniture worked like a well oiled machine.

In the end, I have a beautiful home which reflects my taste, style and design aesthetic. I feel I couldn't have done it without Andrea and vice versa. Certainly Andrea identified unique resources, materials and vendors, but she was very open to my input and never pushed me into making decisions I was not happy with. The outcome reflects the hard work and considerable time that Andrea, her team and I all put into the process. I would highly recommend Jovine Design and am sure that they can work in a variety of ways. For me, personal input was critically important. If that wasn't the case, I'm confident Andrea would still deliver a beautiful product with no surprises."
